"Our Stories" by Chinese in Wales Association, presents Nimmi Wui Yin Liaw's story. In this heartfelt interview, Nimmi Wui Yin Liaw, a Bruneian native, shares her journey of coming to the UK in 1982 to pursue an honors degree in Education at Townhill Teachers College. With a rich tapestry of life experiences, Nimmi reflects on her transition from working as a property agent to nurturing her family, including her four sons and a daughter. She recounts her active involvement in the community, particularly at the Brynmill Community Center, where she prepared meals for the elderly and helped bridge communication gaps for those who struggled with English. Nimmi also opens up about personal challenges, including a recent health scare, while emphasizing her love for cooking and gardening. Her optimism for the younger generation shines through as she advocates for kindness and understanding towards others, especially the elderly, highlighting the warm and caring nature of the people around her.
