Llythyr oddi wrth Hugh Williams at William Chambers [1843] [tudalen 1 o 2]

Disgrifiadau

Llythyr oddi wrth Hugh Williams, cyfreithiwr o Gaerfyrddin, at William Chambers. Mae Williams yn gresynu bod yr helyntion diweddar wedi digwydd yn yr ardal. Roedd gan Williams gysylltiadau cryf gyda mudiad y Siartwyr ac ym marn nifer o bobl ef oedd symbylydd a gwir arweinydd mudiad Beca ('the instigator and undiscovered leader of the Rebecca movement').

Disgrifiad gan Evan D. Jones:

'He [Hugh Williams] regretted acutely the excessive goings on and particularly the outrages which had been committed on the recipients of property. He had not the incentives alluded and every consideration of interest and of humanity induced him to hope and to exert himself to stem the torrent that seemed to threaten the country'.
