At the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, Sir Harry Llewellyn won a show jumping gold with the British team on a horse called Foxtrot. He was the son of a titled colliery owner and public school educated. Before the Second World War Llewellyn was a steeplechaser and finished second in the 1936 Grand National. He was also recognised for his military service and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Over his career, Llewelyn won 78 international competitions and secured a Bronze medal at the 1948 London Olympics. He died in 1999 aged 88.
