John Roberts Royal Navy 1943 to 1967

Former Chief Petty Officer John "Bob" Roberts joined the Navy in 1943 and served in the surface fleet and submarine service. During his career, he survived four convoys, from Scapa flow to Murmansk and several actions where Kriegsmarine warships were engaged. Following the war he went on to serve until 1967, ending his career at the Royal Navy historic dockyard. This is a collection of material relating to his career. Interviews that were recorded with John, as well as photographs, material and a written narrative, which can be viewed online in this collection at the West Wales Veterans Archive on the Peoples collection Wales website. *** The narrative and two interviews contain an account of battle, where fatalities occurred. Discretion advised.
