SENGHENYDD REMEMBERED gan Arthur Cole

Ffynhonnell allanol:

Ar y pedwerydd o Hydref 1913, bu trychineb yng Nglofa Senghenydd. Bu i dros 400 o ddynion dewr golli eu bywydau yn dilyn ffrwydrad. Peidiwn byth ag anghofio'r aberth a wnaed ganddynt i ddarparu ar gyfer eu teuluoedd. Ar y pryd, doedd bywyd o dan y ddaear yn golygu dim i neb, a'r cyfan roedd perchnogion y glofeydd yn ei boeni amdano oedd arian ac elw. Boed iddynt oll orwedd mewn hedd.

"SENGHENYDD REMEMBERED"

The Baron of Merthyr, is who he became.

he is the one, who must shoulder the blame.

Told about safety, but paid no heed.

driven by profit, and pure greed.

He owned Universal, at the time of the deed.

no safety in place, miners constantly plead.

Mine owners rich, all the same at this time.

miners treated like rats, as they crawled in the mines.

An October morning, brought it all to a head.

439 brave men would all end up dead.

The methane ignited, caused by a spark.

the fire would kill them, alone in the dark.

We cannot imagine, the hell they went through.

coughing and choking, if only we knew.

The Baron of Merthyr and cohorts got fined.

a pittance for murder, their pockets all lined.

The life of a miner, meant little at that time.

it was all about profit and that was a crime.

Thirty four pounds, was the fine he was given.

no feeling or remorse, for the dead or the living.

R.I.P MINERS OF SENGHENYDD.
