Tor Clawdd Bungalow on Mynydd y Gwair, Craig Cefn Parc, the 1930s home of Henry Grindell-Matthews aka 'Death Ray Mathews' "By any standard Harry Grindell-Matthews was all that an eccentric scientist should be. Working in a remote laboratory in the Welsh mountains he claimed to have invented, among other things, an electronic beam which earned him the nickname 'Death Ray'...." Also 'Intrigue and Invention: the curious tale of Harry Grindell Matthews and his terrifying ray of death' by Andrew Dulley published in Minerva vol 142006 Welsh Journals Online This next photograph was contributed by Mrs Helen McDuff of Pontardawe. (Nov 2004) It shows the congregation outside Baran chapel, it is 1938.
