Two axe heads from the Fairwater Hoard, kept at the National Museum of Wales. The axe heads bear the three line design typical of the South Wales axes.

Rajinder Singh Gill on the axes and his thoughts on the Hidden Histories course:

Hidden Histories has opened my mind to the heritage of where I moved to from London, Caerau and Ely. I was astonished that this community is steeped in history from Neolithic times.

I chose the Bronze Age Axes for my creative piece as I was drawn by their beauty and the how they were made, which shows the skills of Caerau and Ely in ancient times.

The most fascinating fact I learned from the axes were they had three ribs along the side, but one of them had three lines converging.

I decided to write a Bronze Age Children's story to inspire the young to research their local roots.
