Jim and Renee Beecham and their children were able to get a house in Bettws after Jim left the army in the early 1960s. This was because soldiers were put to the top of the housing waiting list, and Renee is from Newport so they could apply for local housing. They had lived in Hong Kong while Jim was still serving and they loved it, but they were pleased to return and love their house in Bettws.
