This is the gravestone of John Fielding VC at Llanfihangel Llantarnam church near Cwmbran. John Fielding served as Private John Williams of B Company, 2/ 24th regiment and won the Victoria Cross at the defence of Rorkes Drift 22nd-23rd Jan 1879. He died in 1932 aged 75 years. He was the last surviving Rorkes Drift VC. The gravestone was erected by the South Wales Borderers.
