With a history dating back to at least the early 18th century, the farmstead of Moel Ynys has seenmany comings and goings over the years. During World War II, it was surrounded by temporary huts and a rangefinder was installed on the prominence behind. Local residents suggest that the houseitself became the Sargeant's mess for the Ynyslas military camp (MOS EE AA Ynyslas).
