Metal axle of waterwheel at Bron Floyd Mine

Disgrifiadau

The Bron Floyd (Bronllwyd) lead mine is reputed to have been worked circa 1600 and 1640 to 1645. The site was first worked by Myddelton and Bushell. In the mid-eighteenth century the site was worked by Lewis Morris through levels and open cast. In 1851 the mine re-opened and lower lodes were mined from four shafts until the mine closed in 1892. The site produces lead and copper ore.

The site has well preserved remains of buddles and tramways, with evidence of long runs of pumping rods. Wheelpit houses, dressing floors and hoppers, pump escapement, water wheel, trams, pumpcam and pump rods are among the remains.
