The Senedd was built as a pioneering environmentally sensitive building by the Richard Rogers Partnership. It opened on 1 March 2006 and houses the debating chamber and supporting offices of the then National Assembly for Wales, now the Welsh Gvernment. It has a suspended timber-clad roof over glass-walled chambers and offices designed to represent the transparency of government in Wales.
