My dear Emily,
It was silly of me to trouble you & as I did not
reach here till Sunday night I couldn't tell you not to
expect me. What I hoped was that Mervyn & I
could get to Gomsall on Saturday afternoon & I could have cycled up to you. But there was a wind
against us all the way & we stopped the night at
Guildford & cycled on here next day. I wish I could
have seen you. Should you be anywhere visible in
London this week - conveniently to [illegible] - &
I know you are always much engaged - please let
me know. Until Wednesday morning I shall be
at 166 Lauderdale Mansions Maida Vale (℅
A. M. Freeman); the back again here. I
hope you are well & have motored sometimes in
the fine weather - tho you never came up to
Wick Green. Helen & the children have departed
for Norfolk. I am not much alone but sultry
My love to you both
Yours ever
Edward Thomas
