My Dearest Friend,
I am waiting at 10 O'Clock on this glorious Sunday morning for Morgan, who is going to walk with me to Boars Hill and lunch there.
Morgan came as I was writing this sentence. It is now 5pm and I am back again, after a very pleasant and interesting walk. I had been very depressed, found our secret difficult to keep, even from unsympathetic Lincoln men; but Morgan had shown himself so friendly that I told him all. I do not think you will mind;

besides he or Haynes might help me in case of trouble.
At Boars hill, about 5 miles from Oxford, we had a big lunch of eggs and bacon and radishes. Altogether, after the long climb among oak woods paved with anemones, after talking much about Wales and about my prospects, my spirits were raised, and I feel well. I think Morgan and I are going to be friends.
I am sorry I can not send Mary's hat band with this letter, but I had a large blister on my heel yesterday and could not go out to buy it. Soon I will: meantime will you send me her photograph?
This letter is very short and scrappy. I have not yet found perfect peace, though
