Cardiff Male Voice Choir 1904

Disgrifiadau

This choir was founded by Roderick Williams who was the organist at the Welsh Chapel, Ebenezer in Cardiff. They were a successful choir vying for top place in many competitions. In 1904 they competed at Rhyl in the Royal Welsh National Eisteddfod and beat into second place one of their frequent rivals, the Manchester Orpheus Glee Society.

The card was sent by a young lady to her sister back home in West Wales - it seems that she was working in a large store in Cardiff. There is a note on the card which reads " there are at least 10 from this shop here" so perhaps she worked for James Howell or David Morgan.

The Cardiff Male Voice Choir at times, consisted over 100 voices and gave frequent concerts both locally and on tours as well as entering competitions throughout Wales and even at the Royal Albert Hall.
