Pencoed Trailblazers – Woodland Health Check at Coed Iestyn

A huge thank you to the 18 volunteers who turned out today. Your effort, energy, and teamwork helped us clear 15 bags of rubbish and restore 80 metres of woodland paths, giving Coed Iestyn a much‑needed health check.

This woodland still carries the marks of its past. Once a clay pit supplying the terracotta brickworks nearby, it flooded in 1906 and was abandoned. The deep ravines, cuttings, and water‑filled hollows we walk through today are the lasting scars of that industrial chapter.

Thanks to everyone who stepped forward to care for this historic space. Every path reopened and every bag lifted helps the woodland continue its long recovery — and shows what a determined community can achieve together.
