Aluminium Corporation Limited was opened in 1907 in Dolgarrog, North Wales. In order to produce aluminium it needed hydro- electric power andseveral dams were built as a result. The first dam to be completed was the Eigiau Dam in 1911. It was necessary to build an incline railway in order to transport men and materials to the construction site and this photograph shows the locomotive Uxbridge being lowered down the incline following the dam's completion.
