Llantwit Major - St Cadoc's Church

Disgrifiadau

This 13th century church is dedicated to St Cadoc and is a Grade 2 listed building. It is built in the Norman style and has a massive Norman font. Its western Tower contains three bells. Like most other Vale churches this church received its inevitable Victorian restoration; the church itself in 1857 and its tower in 1898.
The interior of the church is particularly interesting for there are quite old mural frescoes on the north wall and several notable memorials. People survive well around here. There are four centenarians buried in this church. Pride of place has to be given to Ivan Yorath who, according to the plaque, after surviving the Battle of Bosworth (1485), lived until 1621! Again as is stated in another memorial of the 28 who served in W.W.1, 24 returned home.
