This is a photograph of of the letter that former World War two German Hauptman Richard Lange wrote to British Army Veteran Bruce McCay on 2nd May 1999. The two World War two Veterans had an encounter on the battlefield near the German settlement of Wittlhoe in April 1945. This encounter is described at Annex A in the story of Bruce's time with the 7th battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers during 1945. The encounter is also mentioned on page 149 of the excellent book 'No Triumphant procession' published by Arms and Armour press in 1994. The two exchanged letters some 54 years later and became friends.
