When in 2015, cuts had to be made to Council-provided local libraries, that's when a group of committed locals stepped-in. Fast-forward to 2025 and The Mancot Community Library -now based in the village's Community Hall- continues to offer Mancot residents a warm welcome with a varied program of cultural activities in addition to access to books for readers and learners of all ages.

In 2024 a lady, now resident outside the area but with a family connection to Mancot, called in at the Library. Mrs Lisa Huish handed over a faded portfolio of type-printed pages containing a detailed and well-researched account of the history and heritage of Mancot and surrounding areas. The work was the product of a 1970 collaborative effort by members of that year of Mancot Women's institute. "It tells us so much about this area and the history of our village", says Mancot Library volunteer trustee, Ian Butler. "Its hugely informative and loaded with facts and local detail, -an impressive and fitting tribute to the people of Mancot and the social-awareness and community spirit of their time".

Mancot Community Library hopes that by making the document easily accessible to members of the public, it will serve, not just the readership of today, but be a valuable resource to help future generations to have better understanding of the area's rich history.

All 24 pages of the original document have now been sensitively restored and digitised by heritage volunteers. The original document can now be seen at Mancot Community Library. It is planned to make the work available online to a wide audience of local-history enthusiasts via Wales National Archive, "Peoples Collection".
