Disgrifiadau

The WCIA Standing Conference was the senior governing body of WCIA, the Welsh Centre for International Affairs from its launch in 1973, drawing wide representation and participation from across Welsh civic and civil society.

The Standing Conference originated as the UN 25th Anniversary Committee, formed from 1968 to advise Secretary of State for Wales George Thomas MP (later Lord Tonypandy) and to organise UN25 activities in 1970. The Western Mail and civic leaders called for the creation of a Welsh Centre for International Affairs as a permanent legacy that could emerge from the UN25 efforts. After 1970, the Committee itself, with its broad base of participation from civil society, international sector organisations, trade unions and local authorities alike, transitioned into the WCIA standing conference.

This partnership listing is an excerpot from WCIA's first Annual Report for 1973-74. Standing Conference membership remained fairly constant through the 1970s-80s.
