Denomination: Anglican Dedication: St Michael Built: 13th century onwards Note: The 13th century tower arch and chancel arch are simply pointed, and probably the tower, wide nave, and wide but short chancel are all of that date, although the windows are mostly Victorian. The tower has a 15th century west doorway and battlements on a corbel table. The south porch and north chapel are 16th century. On the nave walls are the arms of the Morgans of Plas Machen, and there are several 18th century monuments to them in the chapel. In the tower is part of the pediment of a Romano-Celtic shrine, which has a worn carving of a Gorgon's head with huge staring eyes.
