Audio clip from an oral history with Laurence Kahn: Festivals and Holy Days, Cardiff, 22 August 2018

Disgrifiadau

This is an audio clip from an interview with Laurence Kahn in which Laurence discusses festivals and Holy Days.

In this interview, Laurence gives an interesting glimpse into his past, telling stories of his father's time in the Transport Regiment during the Second World War and giving fascinating vignettes of his grandparents. He also talks in detail about his experiences leading VCS (Voluntary Community Service) alongside Robert Davies and his role in helping to organise summer camps which brought young people from around Europe to Cardiff for many weeks, as well as his role in founding and running Butetown's Carnival. Finally, he gives an eye-opening insight into some of the problems that the dwindling Jewish community in Cardiff face today, particularly in regard to the smooth running of Penylan House and issues that the Reform and Orthodox Jewish community face in attracting and retaining a Jewish celebrant community.
