This photograph deals with the story that the US forces took one of the dogs home with them as a souvenir of their time in Acton during the Second World War. The legend is a bit garbled because there is also a story of one of the dogs being found in a hedge. The inside right dog looks like he has suffered some damage so perhaps he was the one who was the target of the souvenir hunters. The dogs were carved by James Edwards of Lavister, Rossett, for Sir Foster Cunliffe. The wooden dogs or what remains of them are now in the care of Wrexham County Borough Museum.
